GMAIL
The basic GMAIL SMTP settings are as follows:
SMTP Server Information | |
---|---|
SMTP Server Address: | smtp.gmail.com |
SMTP Port Number: | 465 |
Encryption Type: | SSL |
Authentication: | |
Username: | your full email address |
Password: | the special APP PASSWORD that you will create (see below) |
Here’s how:
First login to your Google account and enable 2-Step Verification (if it is not already enabled).
for more information about how to do this, Click Here
If you don’t have the option to enable 2-Step Verification, it might be because:
- This is a Google Workspace account and the admin has not allowed 2-Step Verification as an option for individual mailboxes.
- 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.
- Your account is through work, school, or other organization.
- You turned on Advanced Protection.
Once you have 2-Step Verification enabled:
- In your Google Account, click on “Security” at the left,
- Under “How you sign in to Google,” select 2 Step Verification again,
- Scroll to the bottom and click on App Passwords
- Under “App” and choose “Custom App” (give it a name, maybe: “FastManager”) and then click on Generate,
- The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device. Select that 16 character code and copy it to your clipboard,
- Now you can go to the email account settings in FastManager and paste this new App Password (the 16-character code) instead of your normal Google account password (all the other settings will remain the same):
Google Business (Workspace)
If you have a Business Account with Google (“Workspace”) the organisation admin will have to login and go to https://admin.google.com and turn on 2-Step Verification for the users.
